EXMNA works to support people who have left Islam and to defend the right to question religious ideas without fear. We raise awareness, challenge blasphemy laws, and promote freedom of expression, women’s rights, and open debate. In many places where Islam holds political or social power, criticism of religion is treated as a threat rather than a right. This threatens and undermines free thought and open societies.
For ex-Muslims, the consequences are often deeply personal. Many face rejection from family, isolation from their communities, and real danger simply for following their conscience. Few people understand these risks or the scale of the problem. Through education, advocacy, and direct support, we work to make these realities visible and to build a world where no one is punished for their lack of belief.
We believe that we need to fight on several fronts. This is why all our programs have a different approach to addressing the issues that we face. Our multi-pronged efforts of research, awareness-raising, movement-building, and advocacy come together to advance our goal of a more just world for ex-Muslims and all who leave religion.
